The Large-Volume Injection Production Project with an Annual Output of 1 Billion Bottles/Bags Fully Completed and Put into Operation

On March 27, 2024, with the final production line’s products rolling off the assembly line and the successful completion of the GMP compliance inspection, Qidu Pharmaceutical’s ultra-large-volume injection production project with an annual capacity of 1 billion bottles/bags was officially fully completed and put into operation.  

The project was entirely designed with independent innovation. With a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan and a construction area of 37,600 square meters, the project is equipped with three production lines for 50-1000mL PP bottle and stand-up bag infusions and irrigation solutions, as well as four production lines for 50-5000mL non-PVC soft bag infusions, irrigation solutions, and dialysis solutions. Its total production capacity reaches 1 billion bottles/bags annually, making it the largest and most comprehensive large-volume injection production project in China to date. The factory building adopts a layered and zoned design, ensuring higher cleanliness and product quality while meeting requirements for energy efficiency, environmental protection, convenience, and standardization. The equipment features intelligent and digital controls, enabling automated operation, material transfer, and product warehousing, essentially achieving design goals such as remote control, one-touch operation, vacuum feeding, automatic weighing, and unmanned operation. From conceptual design to architectural and process design, and from equipment standards to the level of intelligence and digitization, the project represents a significant breakthrough in China’s large-volume injection sector, gradually aligning with international advanced standards.  

The project took five years to complete. From planning and design to full completion and operation, the project spanned five years and was constructed in two phases, enduring the entire COVID-19 pandemic. According to equipment procurement contracts, the installation and debugging of imported equipment were supposed to be guided on-site by foreign technicians. However, due to the pandemic, foreign experts were unable to arrive. The company’s leadership made decisive decisions, proactively taking action without delay. Over 80 large production equipment units from six foreign manufacturers were independently installed and debugged, ensuring the project timeline while strengthening the team’s capabilities. Notably, the first phase of the project achieved full-capacity operation and profitability in the same year it was launched, strongly supporting drug supply during the pandemic and contributing to the company’s growth.  

A Demonstration Project for New and Old Kinetic Energy Conversion. Compared to older-generation large-volume injection production workshops, the new project quadruples production capacity while reducing staffing by nearly 70% and significantly lowering energy consumption metrics such as water, electricity, and steam. Shandong Province, as a national pilot zone for new and old kinetic energy conversion, is actively promoting industrial upgrading and connotative development. Qidu Pharmaceutical’s ultra-large-volume injection production project with an annual output of 1 billion bottles/bags is a exemplary initiative that modernizes and elevates traditional industries with advanced concepts and technologies, serving as a model for kinetic energy conversion and industrial upgrading. As a result, Qidu Pharmaceutical has earned accolades such as Shandong Province’s Digital Workshop, Intelligent Workshop, and Smart Factory, and is actively striving to become a national-level intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory with applied scenarios.
