Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium Dry Suspension

Indications:

This product is mainly used for the short-term treatment of infections suspected to be caused by B-lactamase-producing amoxicillin-resistant bacteria. In other cases, amoxicillin alone should be considered.

① Upper respiratory tract infection (including ear, nose and throat): sinusitis, otitis media and recurrent tonsillitis. These infections are commonly caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Streptococcus pyogenes.

② Lower respiratory tract infection: acute attack of chronic bronchitis (especially severe bronchitis) and bronchopneumonia. These infections are usually caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis.

③ Urinary tract infection: cystitis (especially recurrent infection or complicated infection, but excluding prostatitis). These infections are usually caused by Enterobacteriaceae (mainly Escherichia coli), Staphylococcus saprophyticus, and Enterococcus spp.

④ Skin and soft tissue infection: cellulitis, animal bite, severe gingival abscess combined with maxillofacial cellulitis. These infections are usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Bacteroides spp.

Some strains of these genera produce beta-lactamases and are therefore not susceptible to amoxicillin alone.

This product can be used to treat mixed infections caused by amoxicillin-sensitive bacteria and 3-lactamase-producing bacteria sensitive to this product. Treatment of these infections does not require the addition of other anti-beta-lactamase antibiotics.
