Qidu Biotech Approved to Establish "Zibo (Qidu) Cell Preparation Center and Tissue Cell Bank"

June 25, 2026

Recently, the Zibo Science and Technology Bureau, Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Health Commission, and Market Supervision Bureau jointly issued an official reply approving Shandong Qidu Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to construct the "Zibo (Qidu) Cell Preparation Center and Tissue Cell Bank." This marks Zibo's first approved comprehensive research platform for cell and gene therapy, featuring standardized storage and preparation capabilities, providing cell and gene therapy products to research and medical institutions, and linking upstream, midstream, and downstream development in the cell industry. It signifies a new phase in the development of Qidu Pharmaceutical Group's biopharmaceutical sector.

Qidu Biotech, a subsidiary of Qidu Pharmaceutical Group, has been engaged in cell and gene therapy research since 2019. Leveraging the Group's strong foundation, it has established close collaborations with top-tier domestic institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University, and Heyuan Biotech, as well as leading listed companies in the industry. The company has built an integrated industrial system for cell and gene therapy encompassing R&D, pilot-scale production, manufacturing, and sales. It has assembled a nearly 100-member operational team led by renowned domestic experts in cell biology and drug delivery systems. Additionally, Qidu Biotech has constructed high-standard pilot-scale workshops for cell and gene therapy and high-end cell culture media, with over 20 projects under development. These efforts have formed a project portfolio covering stem cell and regenerative medicine as well as immune cell therapy. The accumulated resources and conditions have laid a solid foundation for the construction of the Cell Preparation Center and Tissue Cell Bank.

Through the establishment of the "Zibo (Qidu) Cell Preparation Center and Tissue Cell Bank," Qidu Biotech aims to:

- Strengthen the preservation and supply of biopharmaceutical cell germplasm resources in the region.

- Enhance the development of key upstream raw materials for biopharmaceuticals.

- Accelerate the construction of critical supporting platforms needed by the industry.

- Foster collaboration among industry, academia, research, and application sectors to expedite breakthroughs in core technologies.

The initiative will drive the construction of industrial bases for cell and gene therapy, production bases for biological diagnostic reagents and high-end cell culture media, and molecular diagnostic testing centers. It seeks to create provincial and national-level innovation platforms in the field of biocellular technology, accelerate advancements in cell and gene therapy, cultivate new productive forces in biopharmaceuticals, achieve fundamental breakthroughs in biopharmaceutical development, and contribute to building Zibo's trillion-yuan new pharmaceutical.
