Qidu Pharmaceutical Successfully Hosts 50th Anniversary Academic Symposium Featuring Academicians and Experts

On June 26, the Qidu Pharmaceutical 50th Anniversary Academic Symposium Featuring Academicians and Experts was successfully held at the Qisheng International Hotel in Zibo. Five distinguished experts delivered academic presentations: Academician Zhang Qiang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Peking University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Academician Zhang Youming, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, and Director of the National Key Laboratory of Microbial Modification Technology at Shandong University; Professor Cheng Maosheng, former President of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University; Professor Jiao Ning, Deputy Director of Peking University Health Science Center and Party Secretary of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Professor Yang Peng, Executive Vice Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology at China Pharmaceutical University. Also in attendance were Professor Wang Yiguang, Vice Dean of Peking University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Professor Yin Lifang, China Pharmaceutical University; Professor Zhai Guangxi, Shandong University; Professor Xu Jianing, Vice Dean of the School of Life and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shandong University of Technology; and Professor Cao Zhonghong, also of Shandong University of Technology. Qu Wenyue, Deputy Director of the Zibo Science and Technology Bureau, delivered the welcoming address, and Zheng Jiaqing, Party Secretary of Qidu Pharmaceutical, gave the closing remarks. Over 200 participants attended the symposium, including representatives from relevant municipal and district government departments, enterprises, faculty and students from Shandong University of Technology, and R&D personnel from Qidu Pharmaceutical.

During the symposium, the five experts delivered a series of high-level academic presentations, focusing on international and domestic pharmaceutical frontiers, innovation challenges, and industrial transformation.

Academician Zhang Qiang systematically introduced the definition, classification, industrial development, and cutting-edge research progress of novel nano-formulated drugs, identifying key directions for industry-academia-research collaboration and translational outcomes.

Academician Zhang Youming provided an in-depth analysis of the original Red/ET gene recombination technology, comprehensively demonstrating its application prospects in antibody drug development, targeted therapy for solid tumors, and treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

Professor Cheng Maosheng, focusing on the current status and industrial landscape of global small-molecule innovative chemical drugs, objectively assessed the challenges facing innovative drug R&D and proposed strategies and outlooks for high-quality industry development.

Professor Jiao Ning highlighted cutting-edge technologies in drug molecular skeleton editing, demonstrating their outstanding advantages in preclinical R&D of innovative drugs. He also introduced the latest research in novel drug structural design, lead compound optimization, and innovative drug pipeline development.

Professor Yang Peng, focusing on cell cycle regulation and anticancer innovative drug R&D, shared recent advances in targeted therapy for prostate cancer. He presented the full-chain R&D pathway for two novel drug targets, from scientific validation to candidate molecule development, providing actionable new approaches for innovative drug discovery.

The symposium was moderated by Professor Lou Hongxiang, former Vice President of Shandong University; Professor Zhao Shengtian, President of Shandong Hospital Association; and Professor Li Dehai, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ocean University of China.

Qu Wenyue, on behalf of the Zibo Science and Technology Bureau, extended congratulations to Qidu Pharmaceutical on its 50th anniversary and the convening of the academic symposium. He noted that Zibo has long prioritized the new pharmaceutical industry as one of the city's "Four Strong" industries, having developed a complete industrial chain, significant cluster effects, a robust innovation system, and abundant R&D achievements. He highlighted Qidu Pharmaceutical as a key enterprise in the city's pharmaceutical industry, committed to industry-academia-research collaboration, having built national-level innovation platforms and a high-caliber R&D team, and having forged a distinctive path of high-quality development driven by scientific and technological innovation. He expressed hope that the company would take its 50th anniversary as a new starting point, deepen university-industry collaborative innovation, gather national advantageous resources and high-end talent, continuously break through key core technologies, and steadily enhance its core competitiveness.

In his address, Zheng Jiaqing expressed heartfelt gratitude to the academicians and experts who attended the 50th anniversary events and academic symposium, to the experts who delivered forward-looking, high-level academic presentations, and to the professors who organized and moderated the symposium. He noted that Qidu Pharmaceutical's past fifty years have flourished through science and technology, through university-industry collaboration, and through the participation and support of experts and professors. In the coming period, the company will further strengthen scientific innovation, enhance university-industry collaboration, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with renowned experts and professors at home and abroad, accelerating enterprise development through technological empowerment. He introduced that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Qidu Pharmaceutical has set three major strategic objectives: achieving the "Ten Billion Qidu" goal, attaining first-class management standards, and advancing integrated breakthroughs across "Industry + Technology + Capital." The Zibo municipal government has also set a development target of building a hundred-billion-level pharmaceutical industrial cluster during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. He expressed hope that more universities and experts would participate in the revitalization and development of Qidu Pharmaceutical and the broader Zibo pharmaceutical industry, engaging in sincere cooperation and jointly shaping a win-win future.
