On March 2, Academician Ma Dawei, researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); Ding Ke, Changjiang Scholar and researcher at SIOC; and Qi Xiangbing, National Outstanding Young Scientist, senior researcher at the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), and researcher at the Tsinghua Institute of Biomedical and Interdisciplinary Research, visited Qidu Pharma for inspection and exchange. They were accompanied by Cui Yun, Deputy District Head of Linzi District People's Government; Qi Xiangjie, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Zibo Municipal Hospital; and others. Zheng Jiaqing, Chairman of Qidu Pharma; Zhang Jianyong, General Manager; Cui Liangfeng, Senior Deputy General Manager; and relevant personnel from the Research Institute participated in the event.
Academician Ma Dawei and his delegation conducted on-site inspections of the injection production workshop, API production workshop, and Research Institute, followed by discussions and exchanges with company representatives. Professors Ding Ke and Ma Dawei introduced the basic situation of SIOC, the technical strength of its research teams, key ongoing research projects, and achievements in technology transfer. Ma Dawei highly affirmed Qidu Pharma's practices in recent years, including persistent investment in project expansion, continuous application of high-tech transformation to upgrade traditional industries, adherence to the path of integrating industry, academia, and research, and sustained enhancement of innovation capabilities and industrial structure optimization. He stated that Qidu Pharma is a typical representative of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises that prioritize science and technology while maintaining steady development, with a solid foundation in production capacity, technical expertise, talent pool, and external cooperation, possessing strong momentum and conditions for accelerated growth. He expressed hope to strengthen communication and deepen cooperation with the company in areas such as green API processes and collaborative development of innovative drugs.
Zheng Jiaqing extended a warm welcome to Academician Ma Dawei and his delegation and spoke highly of Ma Dawei’s team for their active theoretical innovation research and fruitful achievements in cutting-edge fields of innovative drug development. He briefed the guests on the company's historical evolution, project construction, R&D progress, market layout, and development plans. He pointed out that since its restructuring, Qidu Pharma has adhered to the philosophy of "revitalizing the enterprise through science and technology and strengthening it through talent," persistently following the path of integrating industry, academia, and research, and relying on universities to develop new products and technologies, which has strongly supported the company's technological advancement and profit growth. The company has established cooperative relationships with renowned domestic universities such as Shandong University, Ocean University of China, Tianjin University, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Peking University, covering fields including pharmaceutical formulations, APIs, pharmaceutical packaging materials, and biopharmaceuticals. He noted that Academician Ma Dawei is a renowned scientist in organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry in China, and his proposed "Ma's Amination Reaction" has gained widespread recognition and application in academia and industry both domestically and internationally, generating significant economic and social benefits. The research team he leads has achieved abundant results in innovative drug R&D and translation in recent years. Zheng Jiaqing emphasized that Qidu Pharma should take this visit as an opportunity to promote cooperation in scientific research, talent cultivation, and other areas, and establish a sound strategic partnership integrating government, medical, industrial, and research sectors. Substantive collaboration should be expedited in API process innovation and joint development of innovative drugs. Focus should be placed on clinical demand-driven innovative drug R&D to accelerate the implementation of cooperative projects, creating a new paradigm of complementary advantages, mutual benefit, and stable cooperation.
