Qidu Pharmaceutical 50th Anniversary High-Quality Development Summit Held

Fifty years of dedication, a legacy as enduring as a flowing river. The year 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Qidu Pharmaceutical. On June 26, the Qidu Pharmaceutical 50th Anniversary High-Quality Development Summit was held at the Qisheng International Hotel Conference Center in Zibo. The summit reviewed the company's journey since its founding in 1976, summarized its achievements and experience over the past five decades—particularly since its restructuring in 1998—and outlined plans and prospects for high-quality development in the years ahead. During the summit, awards and plaques were presented to innovation strategy advisors, key industry-education integration strategic partner institutions, international strategic partners, key industry and supply chain partners, and 50th anniversary meritorious individuals. Cooperation agreements were signed with relevant R&D institutions, key universities, and international trading partners.

The venue was filled with distinguished guests. Attendees included Shao Mingli, former Vice Minister of Health, former Director of the State Food and Drug Administration, and Founding President of the China Society for Drug Administration; Zhang Qiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Peking University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Zhang Youming, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and Director of the National Key Laboratory of Microbial Modification Technology at Shandong University; Zhang Junfeng, President of Ocean University of China; Sun Xiangjun, Party Secretary of Shandong Pharmaceutical University; Cheng Maosheng, former President of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University; Chen Xin, Party Secretary of Shandong University Cheeloo College of Medicine; Jiao Ning, Deputy Director of Peking University Health Science Center and Party Secretary of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Lou Hongxiang, former Vice President of Shandong University; Zhao Shengtian, President of Shandong Hospital Association; Wang Weijia, Executive President of Shandong Pharmaceutical Industry Association; Liu Wei, Party Secretary of Zibo Vocational and Technical University; Li Zhongxiang, Party Secretary of Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College; Gai Weixing, Member of the Standing Committee of the Zibo Municipal Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department; Wang Yipu, Deputy Director of the Zibo Municipal People's Congress and Chairman of the Zibo Federation of Trade Unions; Guo Qing, Vice Mayor of Zibo Municipal People's Government; Cai Huagang, Party Secretary of Linzi District; Kang Yiwen, Deputy Party Secretary and District Mayor of Linzi District. Over 800 participants attended, including representatives from more than 30 partner universities, over 100 partner companies, leaders from municipal and district government departments, directors of sister enterprises, as well as Qidu's outstanding employees, high-level talent, retired veterans, and staff representatives. Vice Mayor Guo Qing and Party Secretary Cai Huagang delivered addresses. Chen Xin, representing key industry-education integration strategic partners, and Du Yu, Party Secretary and General Manager of China National Pharmaceutical & Health Products Co., Ltd., representing key international strategic partners, gave speeches on behalf of their respective groups. Zheng Jiaqing, National Model Worker, Vice President of China Pharmaceutical Industry Association, and Party Secretary of Qidu Pharmaceutical, delivered the keynote report. The summit was presided over by Chairman and General Manager Zhang Jianyong.

Vice Mayor Guo Qing, on behalf of the Zibo Municipal People's Government, extended warm congratulations to Qidu Pharmaceutical on its 50th anniversary. He highly recognized Qidu's journey and achievements, introduced the current status and advantages of Zibo's new pharmaceutical industry, and expressed hope that Qidu would continue to regard Zibo as its home base, aiming higher, innovating continuously, and moving forward with a long-term vision, setting a benchmark for high-quality development in the pharmaceutical industry. He noted that Zibo will unwaveringly strengthen the real economy, providing a market-oriented, law-based, and internationally first-class business environment to empower enterprises like Qidu and other market players. He also invited talents from both home and abroad to partner with Zibo and pursue innovation and wealth creation on this historic land.

Party Secretary Cai Huagang introduced Linzi District's policies and measures to fully support Qidu and other enterprises in their transformation and growth. He noted that Qidu has always been closely aligned with local development, actively stabilizing employment, expanding tax sources, fostering industry, and contributing to public welfare initiatives such as education support and pandemic relief, achieving a mutually beneficial partnership between government and enterprise. He stated that the Linzi District Party Committee and Government will prioritize enterprise development, providing the best services and fullest support to facilitate Qidu's high-quality growth. He expressed hope that Qidu, building on its new foundation, would continue to prioritize scientific innovation, product upgrades, and project implementation, contributing wisdom and strength to the district's high-quality development. He also called for enhanced collaboration among government, academia, and industry to achieve resource sharing, complementary advantages, and win-win cooperation, jointly writing a new chapter in economic and social high-quality development.

Party Secretary Zheng Jiaqing delivered a keynote report titled "Fifty Years of Dedication: Innovating for a Winning Future." On behalf of Qidu's Party Committee and Board, and the company's 5,300 employees, he extended a warm welcome to all attendees and heartfelt gratitude to leaders and community members who have long supported the company's growth. He briefly reviewed the company's journey from small to large and from weak to strong, noting that its 50-year transformation has been driven by the legacy of generations of Qidu people, the enabling power of industry-academia-research collaboration, the unwavering support of partners, the strong backing of local governments and society, and an exceptionally dedicated and resilient workforce.

He outlined the company's key success strategies and practices:

He pointed out that after 50 years of exploration, practice, accumulation, and refinement, Qidu Pharmaceutical has built a solid foundation in production capacity, product portfolio, market presence, talent pipeline, and institutional mechanisms. The next 5–10 years will be a critical historical period for Qidu to build on this foundation and achieve rapid growth. All Qidu employees must remain true to their founding aspirations, stay grounded, maintain passion, persevere, and continuously accelerate scientific innovation, internationalization, talent development, and high-quality growth.

He noted that Zibo is a major pharmaceutical hub with a strong industrial foundation, comprehensive categories, and a complete industrial chain. Zibo Party Secretary Ma Xiaolei attaches great importance to the pharmaceutical industry, and Mayor Zhao Qingwen personally serves as the chain leader of the new pharmaceutical industry chain. The pharmaceutical industry in Zibo is facing unprecedented conditions and opportunities. Zibo has the potential and the conditions to become a key destination for pharmaceutical universities and research institutions in areas such as student internships, employment, and industry-academia-research collaboration.

He emphasized that from this new historical standpoint, all Qidu employees should meet the future with greater enthusiasm, dedication, and hard work to create an even brighter future for Qidu Pharmaceutical and make greater contributions to national and local economic and social development.
